Nintendo rarely lowers MSRP on their first party games just those few that make their select lines , thus used prices stay up too as they just have to come in under what places are selling new copies for. Those games are also not available on any virtual consoles, digital game stores etc. Deadshot Member. Apr 13, Canada. Tl;Dr version: they don't make anymore of them and they're still decent.

Wasted money on Paper Mario because I found my original copy. MysteryQuesadilla Member. Nov 1, 1, Nintendo stuff is usually hot among collectors. Even if all of these were made available through some resurrection of the virtual console, most would likely retain value as collectors like physical copies and boxes on shelves.

Oct 25, 7, Because it had small discs. Crayolan Member. Melee is a special case because the game is so popular competitively, but for the rest it's just the case of gamecube games not selling all that much and the number of retro collectors only going up.
Expect this to happen for most Wii U games especially exclusives which do not get ported to Switch before long. Oct 25, 3, Ireland. Even when the gamecube was current some of those games like Skies of Arcadia and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance were tricky to find at retail and when you consider compatibility with the Wii it created a situation where games which were already rare for a 20m audience were opened up to a further m audience with no reprints or digital download options.

In this case, it is the bundle that makes it reach that price since the individual games are more easily found.
A more expensive rare game is the Interactive Multi-Game Demo Disc Version 14 which, as the name suggests, is a compilation of demos. Even though each of the titles can be found at a much lower price, the bundle is so rare its price has increased considerably over the years.
Another thing that might make GameCube games more expensive is the fact that they have become classic titles for Nintendo. Games fitting into this category include Chibi-Robo which was a game that has only become recently appreciated as it was unsuccessful when it first launched. Pokemon XD: A Gale of Darkness is still a popular title that has become more expensive over the years, as it tends to happen with some Pokemon titles.
