Your reply will be seen by and benefit all members who are following the discussion, and they can tell which message you are replying to. If you include multiple usernames in your message, all of those members will get a notification that they have been mentioned by you.

Make sure that you mention the full username. For example hopeful is not the same person as hopeful Thank you colleenyoung Thank you all the information. I'm gong to save it, because my mind can't remember all of it, but I wrote down how to do a private message. There's so many that don't put the to the person they are messaging too. I tell them sometimes. Is there a way to let every one know? Remember I think I can help you on the Mayo? Can't think of what it is called. Jump to this post.

Thanks lilypaws for your public comment on this blog post. When you mention my username, it is still a public post for the benefit of everyone in the group discussion. Putting a person's username is an option, not a obligation. It can help to distinguish who a person is addressing, but sometimes people are writing to everyone. Does that make sense?

So when I have messages like I do now…. Am I the only stupid one that can't figure this out? For instance, say there are posts a b c d e someone then replies to post b and thus creates a new post f. To the reader who doesn't know better, it looks like post f is a response to post e. I know I can change my viewing options from flat to threaded, but that doesn't seem to help much since I can't see what is in each post without clicking on it, and many times there are at least 20 in this phase that look the same.

Posted: 18th Feb Usually This may not awlays be true, particularly in the case of people with faster connections being able to reply to somehting quicker than someone on dial up. Another big clue is quoting someone. Everyone knows who you are replying to, so you dont need to take up anymore of my valuable screen space. Thats not directed at you Spritie, but at everyone in general Posted: 18th Feb the board used to tell you whose post you'd clicked reply on.

Posted: 18th Feb and ta for filling in all the blanks I left out. See you tonight. Posted: 18th Feb And it would make it clear when people don't read any other posts but the first one. Posted: 18th Feb I was one of the people who critisised the old method as using the 'quick reply' box always inserted a 'reply to '- which wasn't right; many of the posts I made were to the thread in general. Other people agreed with that and admin disabled something which led to the current situation.
