As the illusory zombies gang up on Batman, Spellbinder explains his motives for the crimes: Having gotten poor compensation for treating many of the students with connections to wealthy families, he decided to get what he believed he was entitled to and strike back at the rich, with Spellbinder also using the illusions to sneak attack Batman.
Bruce watches through the suit's video link, but can see nothing, meaning the zombies are illusions. Spellbinder attacks Terry, practically invisible through the illusions. However, Bruce manages to help him evade the attacks.
The images eventually fade and Batman sees Spellbinder standing just in front of a cliff. He runs after him but Bruce warns Terry that it's an illusion. Terry freezes, stopping just short of where the real cliff is. Spellbinder attacks from behind, but falls off the cliff himself after Batman evades the attack and captures him.
With the trouble ended, Bruce calls up Barbara and has her take Billings away, with Terry explaining how they caught him, while keeping the fact that he did it as Batman a secret.
Barbara questions Terry and though she doesn't let on, she knows his secret. Terry : Guess you 're the expert on troubled kids. You collect them, right? Terry: Wayne, you alive? Bruce : Very funny. Terry: It's over, Billings! I know who you are! Spellbinder : Well, I'm glad that makes you feel superior, but you haven't caught me yet.
Spellbinder: For years, I fought the demons in the heads of those ungrateful little snots! While their coddling parents paid their garbage men more than me! Now I'm taking what I've earned!

Rather than routinely go back to the well of familiar Batman villains, Batman Beyond introduced several new and fascinating enemies, with Spellbinder being no exception. This allows her to take place in the battle alongside Terry.
Dick soon arrives on the scene to help and works alongside Damian to contribute to the fight against the League of Assassins. From the Bat-Suite , Bruce and Terry's younger brother Matt -- who has served as the Robin of this era in the past -- watch the fight. Matt suggests that they've formed a new Bat-Crew, which brings a smile to Bruce's face, even if he says that sentiment can wait for after the battle.
It's an incredibly sweet moment and a huge step forward for a largely estranged version of the Bat-Family. While Bruce has been working with Terry McGinnis to fight crime, the rest of the Bat-Family largely went their separate ways.
